Inspiration: Heather and Troy

Watching the Steelers-Titans opening NFL game of the year and saw this on twitter at the 1/2. Very inspirational. A reminder to all of us to enjoy each day we are given and to try to make our lives here together the best we can.

"Starbucks Saved My Life"

Don't I know this to be true...

When I was in the middle of the corporate world I found it an intoxicating blend of fast moving work that was a never-ending swirl of excitement. But, you don't realize what that does to you. Although it can be exciting and ego-boosting, it can also turn you into a person that has less appreciation for the little things in life.

I tell people all the time, if you are looking up at the clock on the wall and hoping time speeds up to end your work day... you are in trouble. I hope it slows down. Sure, I want to come home and see Aidan and enjoy the rest of the day with him and Norma. But, I love my job. Trying to squeeze every bit of learning into a period and helping students improve is very fulfilling.

Believe me, I sleep soundly each night. That's the mark of a life spent in the right way.

Randy Pausch Passes at 47

'Last lecture' professor dies of cancer
Randy Pausch, famed for his life-affirming message, passes at 47

I knew this day was coming. I just didn't expect it so soon. Very sad. I am so glad that I read the book when I did and did not wait until hearing about Randy before after his passing. His book, "The Last Lecture," really touched me. He has a powerful message for everyone about living life to the fullest.

Please do yourself a favor and read the book, or watch Randy's Last Lecture video online: The Last Lecture

The Last Lecture

This is the most inspiring thing I have seen all summer. Great words of wisdom.

I am going to be picking up Randy's book this summer www.lastlecture.com

Here is the full lecture - an hour and 1/2 long.
