Teacher Legs

After having two weeks off thanks to Hurricane Ike (it was hardly a vacation to be without power for 10 days), I have yet to get my 'teacher legs' back. I am very active and on my feet the entire day while teaching. It is rough when you don't do that for a while and then go back to it. My legs are aching tonight. A little advil helps... but, I can't wait until I am back in "teaching shape."

All of my students now have power at home. There were a handful that had to wait until SUNDAY. It is kind of crazy that they went 15 days without power. Wow.

We have been taking it easy on them in classes, because we know this is not a 'normal occurrence.' Today we took a test in class that I actually handed to them the day before, went over the answers with them and just switched the choices around on the test I gave today. Same info. Guess what... the kids did great! No kidding. But, we are trying to be very sure that kids have every opportunity. No "homework." No "tests" this week. Mine was actually a quiz, but I am going to count it as a test - kind of a gift boost.

Why are we doing this? The interruption and stress of the hurricane is just a mess. Hard to explain unless you have gone through it. And we are not making up the days we missed. The state counts them as a disaster set of days. So we are going to end the "six weeks" on Friday. Although it was really only 4 weeks. :)

We will be back to normal next Monday. I really can't wait.

I have to say, I love my kids this year. I love my schedule. I really do love my new house. The blue house has been just great. I miss everyone in white, but I have been visiting a bit (although it is literally over a quarter of a mile walk away).

Tomorrow kids will be presenting projects and I can't wait to see them. They look incredible! Maybe the best I have ever gotten from kids.

Palin Interview Part IV - Tina Fey

I expected SNL to start off with a debate parody. Instead we got this...

I still can't believe how well Tina Fey does Sarah Palin. Amazing. If you have watched the CBSNEWS interviews, it's dead on. You can watch it here to compare:

There are lots of Sarah Palin spoofs out there. This one is pretty good and you may not have seen it.

When I first heard the quote by Damon about this being like a bad Disney movie, I wasn't real clear, but this is crystal. Mighty Ducks meets Freaky Friday.
